How to choose a Gaming Laptop

Graphics card (GPU) prices have been dropping for several years now, and will continue to drop even further, allowing gamers to be more hands-off when it comes to choosing a gaming laptop to buy laptops with the power they want. But now the question is how to choose the right gaming laptop based on our needs. Modern laptops are available in almost all sizes and shapes, what matters is whether it can handle the games we play and how useful the peripherals will be. A desktop computer is often chosen because it has more room for future improvements. But because a desktop computer is a large device, it must be connected to a monitor and keyboard and must stand statically in one place, and you can only play in that one special place. If you want to have quality hardware and play wherever you want, then a laptop is the perfect device for you. But before choosing a laptop, there are many more details to consider than battery life.

Display (screen)

If you mostly play at home, then you may have an extra monitor that you use while gaming, but if you often have to go out with your laptop in hand and go to different places, then a good laptop screen is necessary. Generally, laptop screen sizes are 13, 15, 17 inches. Maybe a bigger screen, but a bigger screen makes a laptop clumsy, but a bigger screen is better, isn’t it?

After you have selected the screen size, there is another aspect – the resolution, that is, the number of pixels visible on the screen. The higher the resolution, the clearer the image. Newer laptops have 1440p/4k screens, while older ones have 1080p.

Update frequency is also an important factor. The refresh rate is how many new images the screen can display per second. The refresh rate is measured in Hertz (Hz). Each hertz equals one picture. For example, a 100Hz screen displays 100 images per second. The higher the hertz, the better the screen. Gaming-Laptop recommends at least a 144 Hz monitor to get a high-quality image during gaming.

So we’re not done yet, the screen is just the tip of the iceberg hidden in the ocean. In order for the screen of your laptop to provide you with a suitable image, you need a good video board (aka video card (GPU)) and processor (CPU).

Processor (CPU)

  • Processor – (CPU – Central Processing Unit) This is a circuit that is the main part of your laptop, the processor controls your laptop and performs all kinds of computing operations, that is, it processes information. The speed and performance of a computer depends greatly on the characteristics of the processor.
  • There are several specifications from which you can choose a CPU. e.g. Clock speed, number of cores, clock frequency, etc.
  • Clock Speed: Determines how fast the processor receives and executes instructions. The higher the frequency, the faster the processor. Processor speed is also measured in Hertz (Hz). Clock Speed is the number of cycles your CPU can complete per second.
  • Number of cores: processors also differ in the number of cores, there are 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 16 core processors. The core is the part of the processor where information is mainly processed, roughly speaking, the brain, therefore the more cores the processor has, the faster the computer will work, because the more information is processed per unit of time, the more cores it has.
  • In the market, it is also possible to buy processors with OverClocking, which means that your processor will overcome its limits. But you have to keep in mind that the faster your CPU runs, the hotter it gets, which can cause a lot of problems in your system, especially with a laptop where cooling can be hindered! So, to extend the life of your new laptop, make sure you follow your hardware guides on how to reset and stay safe.

video card (GPU)

The GPU (graphics processing unit) creates the pixels that make up the image on the screen. It works together with the CPU to provide high-quality smooth images, high frame rates and high resolution while gaming.

All laptops have a GPU, but in most, especially low-budget ones, it is integrated into the motherboard and is quite sufficient for the average user. But if you’re a gamer, you’ll need more power, for which you’ll need a more powerful GPU. Most gaming laptops have a GeForce GTX GPU by default. This video card is less powerful compared to its desktop version, but the optimization of the mission allows it to perform the tasks assigned to it well.
