Essential PC software

In order for the computer and the operating system on it (Windows or MacOS) to work properly and serve us as we need, additional software is needed, some of which are included with the installation package of the operating system (these are mostly small software – Drivers, drivers) and some must be created by us. Let’s install it, depending on what peripheral devices we use while working on the computer.

In this article, we will discuss the software of the two main operating systems – Winndows and MacOS.

Windows

  1. Pay attention to software updates and keep them up-to-date.

  • You can set software updates to automatically update or update manually. You can manually run Windows software updates from the menu by clicking the Check for updates button. Updates will be downloaded and installed. This will help your system to be more secure and to use the latest generation software
  • When you receive an update for a particular program, the update will be downloaded, installed, and you’ll get an updated system, updated visuals, and possibly even additional tools.

  1. Install Fast Browser

If you still use Microsoft Edge for work or entertainment on the Internet, we recommend that you stop using it and use faster Internet browsers such as Google Chrome and Firefox.

  1. Close and disable programs you are not using

Each running program takes up RAM space (we know it as RAM) and also CPU power.

When you are finished working with this or that, make sure to close it. And if you are not satisfied with the program and cannot close it with the standard button, you can use the following methods:

  • Press Ctrl+⇧ Shift+Esc to open the task manager.
  • In the list, select the program or process you want to disable
  • In the upper right menu, click the End Task button
  • Repeat the same action for all other programs and processes you want to close/disable)

  1. Remove unnecessary programs

Programs installed on the operating system take up space on the hard drive, which increases the pressure on the hard drive. Also, the startup functions of the installed programs when starting the operating system start up slowly and slow down the start-up process and then quick operation. You can remove these unnecessary programs by doing the following;

  • Press the START-menu or button,
  • Then open the settings
  • Click on Apps
  • Search for the program you want to remove
  • Click on the program name
  • Then click on Uninstall
  • After the popup pops up, click Uninstall again
  • Then follow the appropriate instructions that appear on the screen.
